Job Description And Duties

The Public Advocates Office (Cal Advocates) represents ratepayer interests in Commission proceedings and processes (e.g., workshops, rulemakings, investigations, utility applications, hearings, advice letters, committee, and stakeholder meetings) as well as in other forums. These proceedings and processes set rates, rules, policies, and regulations.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Energy, the Assistant Deputy Director supports the Deputy Director in overseeing the operations and administrative functions of Cal Advocates’ two energy ratemaking branches – the Energy Cost of Service and Natural Gas Branch and the Electricity Pricing and Customer Programs Branch. The incumbent serves as a key member of the Public Advocates Office’s Executive Management team and the principal consultant to the Deputy Director on the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of all matters related to electrification transition strategies.
