JOB TITLE:DATACENTER SUPERINTENDENT

LOCATION:CHICAGOLAND

Position Summary

The Superintendent provides on-site coordination for all phases of the construction project. This includes but is not limited to; working with Field Supervision and Management to achieve company strategic goals through effective safety, scheduling, cost control, documentation, quality and other areas that affect the successful completion of projects. The superintendent is responsible for performance development and goal setting for specified field management. They support and encourage individual technical and behavioral development, to ensure business results. Assist in developing and implementing plans for field promotions, training and other means to upgrade supervisory capabilities.

Major Responsibilities

Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of an assigned project.
Collaborates with other staff to create preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor.
Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
Collaborates with architect, engineer, attorney, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and other regulations are met.
Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
Obtains required permits and licenses; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
Collaborates with union representatives to answer questions and clarify procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Responsible for ensuring that a safe workplace remains the top priority by partnering with the Safety Department, Safety Committee and Management to develop / support policies, procedures, and practices for establishing a safe workplace.
Monitor and assist with field productivity, cost control and scheduling to ensure accurate and updated construction schedules and plans for Pepper manpower and subcontractors.
Monitor field overtime and labor costs to work toward optimum productivity and cost efficiency. Work with Field and Project Management to address cost concerns.
Visit assigned jobsites on a regular basis and analyze the construction status of projects including the Safety Plan, Quality Control, Toolbox Talks, Logistics Plan and Schedule. Complete jobsite reviews on each project at least one time per month and review with the Head of Field Operations. All reviews should be included in job files.
Take an active part in job start / job close meetings, and in setting goals for the project team with the Group Leader.
Initiate communication with the V.P. of Field Operations and Group Leaders on a regular basis to ensure construction updates and problem-solving efforts are being addressed appropriately.
Assist the V.P. of Field Operations in coordinating field assignments.
Coordinate and lead the Emergency Response Team. Take the lead role in the field during emergency situations and activate the Emergency Response Team when necessary.
Support and encourage training sessions for all field personnel. Facilitate training classes as needed.
Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures with field supervision.
Demonstrate strong leadership.
Performs other related duties as assigned/needed

Position Requirements

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field required.
5 years of Datacenter construction management experience required.
Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating subcontractors with three-week lookahead schedules.
Understanding of material, labor, and equipment takeoffs relevant to utility-scale, solar project construction and generally.
Familiarity with and or ability to understand virtual construction software and tools.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.

OSHA 30 certification preferred
