Applied Machine Learning Engineer

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, physics, Mathematics, or computer science OR a Bachelor’s degree in these fields, with three years of directly related experience
- Familiarity with machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and/or formal methods for planning
- Experience and knowledge to develop, implement, test and evaluate novel academic and industry concepts
- Proficient at high-level prototyping software languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, Julia)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to clearly communicate with a wide spectrum of audiences
- Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance
Responsibilities
- The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary hardware, software, and analysis team under the mentorship of a senior technical lead
- Example problem areas include algorithm development and analysis for surveillance, tracking, and collision avoidance, and novel comprehensive system performance evaluation for vehicle separation and collision avoidance applications
- Activities will include algorithm development and assessment, modeling simulation, and data analysis
- Successful candidates will develop the skills to analyze the operational problems in detail and to develop deployable solutions
- Additional responsibilities may include participation in test planning and flight test operations, as well as analysis and presentation of data collected during field tests
- The Surveillance Systems Group supports a hybrid work environment
