DC Design Manager for Region (AMER), Data Center Engineering

Qualifications
- 6+ years of design experience in commercial / industrial / other complex technical projects
- 7+ years of Mission Critical facility design experience
- International travel may be needed
- 3+ years of large-scale Data Center facility design experience
- 10+ years of experience directly related to data center design, construction, operations, and/or facility maintenance
- Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
- Direct experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage
- Direct experience with delivering modular data centers design projects, including procurement and commissioning of facilities
- Functional knowledge of industry standards, environmental codes, building codes and safety standards including International Building Code
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to senior leadership or non-engineers, develop basic business case financial projections and create performance metrics
- Direct experience in negotiating with regulatory agencies regarding departures from building code and construction change orders
- Working Knowledge of Sharepoint, BIM/Revit, Salesforce and Procore
Responsibilities
- This unique vantage point allows the Design Managers to maintain a close connection with project details and drive project outcomes
- You will have impact on the design direction and ability to improve design delivery for an entire region, while establishing design procedures and protocols for the development of future systems
- Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent data center designs across Americas within schedule and cost constraints while maintaining a high level of quality
- Able to influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and external consultants to address program wide design changes
- Manage escalations from the design team and collaborate with procurement, construction and external consultants
- Effectively communicate with AWS Leadership and external project partners, including the creation, tracking & reporting of metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality Throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce contract change orders without negative impacts on quality or reliability
- Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through standardization and automation
- Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globe
- Ability to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environment
- Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants
- Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
