Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Suburban Hospital is seeking a Vice President of Operations (VP Ops) who will lead day-to-day operations and provide administrative oversight over a number of key operational departments for Suburban Hospital, located in Bethesda Maryland
  • Reporting to the President of Suburban Hospital, the Vice President of Operations position has become available through a planned retirement
  • Summary of Position As a key member of the Suburban Hospital Executive Team, the VP Ops will partner with leadership to ensure that Suburban Hospital provides outstanding outcomes, experience, and value for patients and families
  • She/he will have an active role in supporting the execution of the NCR's regional growth initiatives
  • S/he will be accountable for translating institutional priorities into operational tactics within Suburban Hospital, ensuring JHM continues to deliver the highest quality of care throughout its system
  • With success in the role and commitment to the organization, s/he will gain increasing responsibilities over time and will be groomed for potential succession promotional opportunities
  • Reporting Relationships Reports to the President, of Suburban Hospital and works collaboratively with leaders across Suburban hospital and Johns Hopkins Health System
  • Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the operational, financial and administrative performance of their reporting departments and functions
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies
  • Lead managers to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the company's overall strategy
  • Demonstrate leadership to drive operational excellence throughout the organization
  • Partner to execute and monitor implementation of strategic plans, integrate new services/products, business systems, regulatory and compliance programs
  • Partner to develop, and modify as necessary, business/market plans to capture organic market growth for Suburban Hospital and the NCR; Help develop and execute on opportunities for new healthcare clinical services
  • Ensure hospital facilities allow for the implementation of programs and services; recommends facility and product line improvement(s), to include construction and/or renovation of structures and/or purchase of new equipment as appropriate
  • Partner on workforce development plans, employee recruitment and retention while achieving excellent work environment and organizational climate/culture scores
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of current and projected capital and operating budgets, including initiating corrective action(s) when substandard financial performance occurs
  • Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization
  • Represent Suburban Hospital, the NCR, and JHM as requested on community, state, and national health agencies and groups
  • Communicate openly and effectively internally and externally with a wide variety of individuals to ensure that needs are being met and the reputation of the organization is enhanced, while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Advise the President on strategic business development and key corporate planning issues that relate and impact the operations of the hospital
  • Rotates as Administrator-on-Call on a pre-determined schedule to provide coverage on weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights for a 24-hour period
  • Responds by phone or in person to incidents/issues which require administrative advice, authorization, or intervention
  • Be a visible leader who engages employees across the organization and promotes a supportive culture built upon trust; focus on workforce development initiatives
  • Meet/exceed operational and financial goals; implement appropriate efficiencies while fostering a positive culture and facilitating the delivery of the highest quality clinical care
  • Strengthen financial performance to achieve growth projections
