  • The Senior UX Designer - Product Management position will be based in Herndon, VA with a role classification of Hybrid Remote. Role Summary: As the financial services arm of Audi, Volkswagen and Ducati, VW Credit (VCI) focuses on providing financing, payment, insurance and mobility products and digitally engaging customers post-purchase. The Senior UX Designer - Product Management will own all customer research, prototyping, IA mapping, low and high fidelity UX design, and product branding for the product management team at VCI. We have the opportunity to completely redefine the relationship people will have with cars in the future, and we are looking for a passionate, empathetic, compelling designer and researcher with significant experience building consumer facing (digital) experiences to help uncover new provocative ideas and bring them into reality. To fit in, you have to be jazzed about delivering amazingly simple experiences that will redefine people's relationship with cars... You have to tie everything back to the customer, ensuring you're both solving a need for them and delighting them with every interaction. You'll be expected to utilize your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills! This role will have significant visibility to the senior management teams of VCI, Audi, Volkswagen, and Ducati so it will be critical for this design lead to have exceptional communication skills. Role Responsibilities will include: Conducting and delivering research and customer insights Moderating empathy research sessions Creating end-to-end customer journeys for all leasing products Designing flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant for every leasing product we maintain, conceptualize, research, and launch Contributing to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive team Partnering with product managers and engineers to oversee the user experience of a product from conception throughout the lifecycle of a product Breakdown of Role Responsibilities: UX Design (60%) - The core responsibility of this role is creating and owning the end-to-end customer journeys, UX and service designs for new and existing leasing products as well as service loaners. This role will functionally span everything from sketching initial ideas for digital and in-dealership user experience flows, to creating production-ready designs for mobile app and website experiences, to visual branding and logo design when necessary. Customer Research (30%) - A key step in the current and new business evaluation/ideation and strategy process will be customer research. That means writing interview scripts and talking to customers one-on-one, creating and conducting research surveys, synthesizing insights into actionable steps, and getting feedback on current and new product designs. This also includes conducting internal workshops including customer journey mapping of existing processes to identify design improvement opportunities. Product Strategy (10%) - Product management is highly collaborative and therefore a component of this role will be to continually participate in and help guide the product strategy. Experience: 7-10 years of experience with digital product design (visual and interaction) 7 years of in-person empathy-based customer research 5 years of experience in service design Education: Required - Bachelor's degree Desired - Master's degree in related field General Skills: Passion for identifying and solving real consumer and business problems Entrepreneurial ability to identify and prioritize opportunities in highly ambiguous contexts Demonstrated strategic product thinking and vision Flexible in design approach, working across the spectrum of low (drawings, wireframes) and high (production ready design) fidelity Experience building and shipping pilots, applications or software A strong design vision with a passion for iterating in collaboration with our team A fantastic storyteller who is at ease presenting to, and can influence, senior executives Specialized Skills: Required - Expertise in customer research techniques and in-person moderation (heuristic evaluation and expert reviews, contextual inquiry, surveys, card sorting & information architecture, focus groups, competitive evaluation, etc.) User-centered problem solving and storytelling Working knowledge of software development and underlying architecture components and considerations Experience with front-end programming (html and css) with the ability to work closely with engineers to implement designs Proficient using tools like Sketch, Photoshop and Invision, and can efficiently use your skillset to develop new designs within existing and new visual systems and design languages A portfolio which highlights strong understanding of design elements such as color, photography, iconography and animation including project examples that showcase digital branding, UI elements and illustration Data mining and visualization Desired - Fintech experience Automotive experience POC, Prototyping and Piloting experience Experience in all aspects of usability testing (i.e., recruiting, methodology and metrics development, analysis, reporting results, etc.) Work Flexibility: Role Classification - Hybrid Remote Travel 20% of the time (domestic) We are proud to be an EEO employer M/F/D/V.
