Responsibilities

  • The Vice President works collaboratively with the leadership of the Clinical Programs to assure a uniform patient experience across all ambulatory sites of care which support Loyola Medicine hospitals
  • In conjunction with medical staff leaders and members of the Loyola Medicine Senior Management Team, the Vice President, provides direction of ambulatory activities in the system through the:
  • setting of priorities, allocation of resources, development and approval of policies and procedures, determination of short and long-term plans, and evaluation of progress to achievement of goal and objectives
  • Create a single point of entry for all patients seeking service at any of the regional locations including triage, scheduling, registration and coordination of patients ambulatory services
  • Regional Patient Engagement Center, Ambulatory Satellite locations, Loyola Outpatient Center, Burr Ridge, Oakbrook Medical Center, Homer Glen, Outpatient Dialysis as well as all Immediate Care Centers and any future ambulatory sites
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions
  • In collaboration with ambulatory and Loyola Medicine leadership as well as medical directors and department chairs, establishes standards and strategic initiatives for quality patient service which focus on a goal of positive patient outcomes
  • Effectively utilizes patient outcome data to develop processes which ensure continual performance improvement
  • Actively supports and promotes process improvement within areas of responsibility
  • Ensures that assigned areas meet or exceed regulatory requirements established by The Joint Commission (TJC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other licensing/accrediting agencies
  • Develops capital and operational budgets to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support operation of ambulatory programs and meet organizational goals
  • Responsible for budget management and oversight to achieve fiscal goals
  • Participates in decision-making for the organizational budget
  • Participates in planning activities and the development of ambulatory goals
  • In conjunction with department chairs and medical directors, develops strategic and action plans for specific areas of responsibility and the overall organization
  • Assesses and selects information from directors and managers to devise systematic plans for achievement of organizational and Ambulatory Goals
  • Incorporates opportunities for service improvement and promotion of innovation in goal-setting
  • Coordinates planning in areas of responsibility
  • Provides effective communication to administration, faculty/physicians, management and staff to establish understanding of the Trinity Health/Loyola Medicine mission and strategic goals necessary to achieve organizational goals
  • Meets regularly with medical directors, department chairs and direct reports to facilitate communication, goal setting and decision making
  • Represents the programs, services and achievements of the ambulatory division to the community, regulatory agencies, media and government
  • Arranges systems, functions and resources within span of control to maximize quality of service/high patient satisfaction and/or efficient operations, as well as to achieve organizational objectives
  • Recruits, interviews and selects staff in collaboration with Human Resources and ensures that staffing guidelines/standards are maintained in accordance with patient care and/or departmental requirements
  • Utilizes measurements of quality and productivity to evaluate systems and staffing
  • Develops and implements policies and management/operational structures to ensure continuous quality service, patient access, customer service excellence and enhanced profitability
  • With Nursing and Clinical Leadership, establishes standards for quality and patient service
  • Coordinates, assesses, and approves special projects
  • Develops directors and managers to use abilities and talents to accomplish goals
  • Fosters positive team collaboration and staff development to facilitate efficient operations, employee engagement and achievement of patient service/safety/satisfaction goals
  • Oversees human resource functions including recruitment, training and performance management to maintain the highest quality workforce
  • Establishes and maintains effective relations with medical staff and provides proactive support for physician development and active involvement in decision-making
