Responsibilities
- Candidate will be expected to be physically at the lab Mon-Fri and work in-person with staff to assure mission success
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of an engineering team and laboratory staff (10-20 individuals) consisting of mechanical, structural, electrical, and software engineers
- Track finances and provide monthly status reports to corporate management on burn rates, % completion, and runway for each project and the company as a whole
- Direct all laboratory-related maintenance activities, including equipment enhancements and repairs, utilities, and IT
- Maintain company liability and equipment insurance, Federal and State regulation compliance, manage depreciable equipment tracking, and work with accountants to assure tax returns and audits are promptly and efficiently handled
- Organize and lead lab safety training and ensure workplace safety
- Manage staff development, including timesheets, time off requests, progressive discipline, conflict resolution, and performance reviews
- Work with management council to actively shape company culture, goals, and objectives
