Summary

Bakelite is seeking a Technical Sales Representative (Wood Adhesives Industry) in the Southern US. This position supports the service requirements of Building and Construction - Western Region clients and reports to the Business Manager for Building and Construction. A

The technical sales representative in the wood adhesives industry is responsible for promoting and selling adhesive products to manufacturers and distributors. This role may involve understanding customer needs, providing technical support, delivering product demonstrations and more. The representative will be responsible for developing strategies, maintaining relationships with key accounts, and tracking market trends to ultimately drive sales growth and enhance customer satisfaction. Strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions

Ensures growth of existing accounts by supporting in plant sales/service activities.
Assesses potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs.
Research and present reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing company products or services.
Uses technical knowledge of product offerings and customer processes to support and build sales.
Update Sales and Operations planning on sales forecasts.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

Education & Experience:

Basic Qualifications

Requires proficiency in the role-specific skills and abilities. Must demonstrate a thorough understanding in the area of specialization and responsibility, typically obtained through a bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of experience in industrial sales or the wood adhesives industry.
Experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Willing to travel up to 70% of the time.
Must have a background in the Oriented Strand or Particle Board/MDF Industry and located or willing to relocate to the East Texas/Louisiana
Good interpersonal communication.
Adhere to company safety policies and work requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of ERP systems.
Previous experience in a technical / quality role.
